LHS Sports Hall of Fame 2012
Kevin Mawae, LHS Class of 1989 was the inaugural members of the LHS Sports Hall of Fame.

After high school, Mawae signed with LSU, where he earned varsity letters for 4 years and All-SEC honors twice. In 1993, he was drafted into the NFL by the Seattle Seahawks, where he began a 16 year professional career. He earned pro bowl honors multiple years and was known as one of the most reliable offensive linemen in the NFL.
He also played for the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans. Near the end of his career, he was honored by his fellow players when he was selected to lead the NFL Players’ Union, where he represented all NFL players on work conditions and other issues.
Retirement brought numerous accolades and honors for Kevin Mawae. Since leaving the NFL, he has been elected to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in addition to being the first person selected for the Wampus Cat Hall.
Kevin and his wife live near Leesville and can be seen these days at Wampus Cat Stadium on Friday nights in the fall.
