LHS Sports Hall of Fame 2018
Dr. Holly Wentz-Reeves
The Leesville High School (LHS) Alumni Association is pleased to announce Dr. Holly Wentz-Reeves as the 2018 inductee in the LHS Sports Hall of Fame. Holly Wentz was a 1984 graduate of Leesville High School. She joins Kevin Mawae, Eddie Fuller, Ted Paris, Richard Reese, Robert Gaines, Terry Holt and Grant Westerchil as members of the Hall.
Dr. Wentz-Reeves is the first Lady Wampus Cat inducted into the Hall of Fame. Holly distinguished herself at Leesville High School in track and cross country, earning All-State honors four times in track and once in cross country. During her sophomore year, Holly broke the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) State AAA record in the 800 meters by over 10 seconds; this performance also earned her All-American honors, making her the first Lady Cat to receive such an accolade. Her record stood as the AAA standard for over a decade. Holly garnered critical points for the Lady Wampus Cats at the 1982 State Championships, winning the 800 meter run and running legs on the 800 (first place) and 1600 meter relay team (third place); she led the team to a State Runner Up Trophy, the highest placing of any girls’ team in LHS history.
Holly was involved with a number of extracurricular activities at Leesville High School, including cheerleading, numerous clubs, organizations, and basketball. In her senior year she was named Miss LHS.
After high school, Dr. Wentz-Reeves attended Wheaton College in Illinois. During an impressive collegiate track career, she earned All-American Honors as an 800-meter runner and on the school’s 160- meter relay team. In 2003, Holly was inducted into Wheaton’s Athletic Hall of Honor. After Wheaton, she attended and was graduated from the University of Indiana’s College of Dentistry.
Holly is a practicing orthodontist in Lubbock, Texas. She and her husband, Dr. Pat Reeves, have three children.
