Homecoming 1985

The 1985 Leesville High School Homecoming embraced the exciting theme “Back to the Future,” bringing alumni, students, and community members together for a weekend of reflection, tradition, and pride. Now in its 12th edition, the Homecoming program once again offered opportunities to reconnect with old friends, celebrate the legacy of Leesville High, and enjoy the spirit of being a Wampus Cat.

The festivities began on Friday, October 25, 1985, with registration at 8:30 a.m. at Leesville High School. Alumni were warmly welcomed back into the halls of their alma mater, greeted by familiar faces and fond memories. At 9:00 a.m., a coffee social provided the perfect start to the morning, followed by the school assembly at 10:00 a.m., which united alumni and students in a celebration of school pride and tradition. At 12:00 noon, the Holiday Inn hosted the annual luncheon, where classmates reconnected over stories, laughter, and shared memories of their high school days.

The afternoon brought one of Homecoming’s most anticipated events: the Parade at 3:00 p.m. along Third Street, where honored classes proudly rode floats and the community gathered to cheer them on. The spirit and energy of the parade carried into the evening as the Wampus Cats faced Alexandria Senior High at 7:30 p.m. in the Homecoming football game at LHS Stadium. Fans filled the stands under the Friday night lights, celebrating not only the game itself but also the sense of unity and tradition that defines Leesville High.

On Saturday, October 26, 1985, alumni and their families gathered once more for a barbecue at 11:00 a.m. in Leesville City Park. The relaxed atmosphere was filled with laughter, storytelling, and the joy of reconnecting across generations. The weekend concluded with the Alumni Dance from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, where music and dancing carried the celebration late into the night. The 1985 Homecoming, with its forward-looking theme “Back to the Future,” perfectly captured the balance of honoring the past while looking ahead, reminding all Wampus Cats that Leesville pride endures through time.
